Białołęka, on the right bank of the Vistula in the north-east, is Warsaw’s growing district. About 164,000 people live here, up almost 9% in five years, and it has the youngest population in the city: nearly a quarter of residents are under 18. Newcomers mostly live in new estates in Tarchomin and Nowodwory, while older parts keep single-family houses, allotments and fields. There is no metro yet. Trams cross the Vistula to the left bank, and local trains stop at three stations. Almost half the district is green, and by our score it is Warsaw’s second quietest. Apartments are among the cheapest in the city, at about 13,000 zł per m², which suits young families who want space and don’t mind a longer trip into town.
