Bielany sits in the north-west on the left bank of the Vistula, home to about 130,000 people. It is one of the greenest districts: almost half its area is parks, forest and meadows, including Las Bielański on the river escarpment, where the old Camaldolese monastery stands, and Las Młociński further north. The M1 metro line runs through it, with four stations and its northern terminus at Młociny, where trams and buses meet. Stare Bielany has a calm prewar layout of low houses and leafy streets, while most residents live in postwar estates. About a quarter of residents are of retirement age. Apartments sell for about 16,300 zł per m². It suits people who want forest walks close by and a direct metro ride to the centre.
