Wawer is Warsaw’s largest district, almost 80 km² in the south-east on the right bank of the Vistula, and its least densely populated. About 91,000 people live here, mostly in houses with gardens in neighbourhoods such as Anin, Międzylesie, Radość and Falenica, some with old wooden villas from before the war. More than half the district is green, with large pine forests on its eastern side. There is no metro or tram, but the railway line south-east of the city has seven stations here, the most practical way into the centre. Wawer is quiet, with very few bars, and its apartments are among the cheapest in Warsaw, at about 12,700 zł per m². It suits people who want a house, a garden and a forest on the doorstep.
